FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Fort Collins Regional Library District (District) is conducting a survey to gauge public opinion and to request suggestions about its current and future service offerings.
Community feedback will be used to guide the District’s future plans, and is instrumental in better understanding and meeting the needs of taxpaying citizens who support the District.
Participants who complete online surveys at www.SpeakUpAtTheLibrary.com by January 31, 2009, are eligible to win one of five $100 Downtown Fort Collins gift certificates. Citizens may access the survey through all public computers at both libraries, located at 201 Peterson Street and 4616 South Shields.
“Every opinion is appreciated and needed,” said Board of Trustees president Mary Atchison. “From Virginia Dale to Fort Collins, and from Horsetooth to Timnath, we want to hear from people about why they use the library – or why they don’t. It’s our sincere hope to better understand their diverse needs in order to provide the best library experience possible for our District communities.”
Established by voter approval in November 2006, the Fort Collins Regional Library District serves a 1,780 squaremile geographical area within northern Larimer County, and its boundaries are almost identical to those of Poudre School District.
Through its two established branches, outreach programs and online resources, the District circulates more than 2 million items each year, providing citizens of all ages and backgrounds access to a diverse collection of materials. The District has 115,190 active card holders, and more than 2,700 people visit the two branch libraries each day. Over 1,000 communitycentered programs and services are hosted by the District every year, attracting more than 40,000 participants annually.
The District aims to enrich the cultural, educational and economic life of the growing regional area it serves. And when economic times are difficult, people increasingly use and appreciate the resources and entertainment provided by their local public libraries.
“We look forward to a busy and exciting 2009 with the grand opening of our Council Tree Library in March, and the continued expansion of services,” said the District’s communication manager Paula WatsonLakamp. “The library staff and Board of Trustees will use the results of this survey to address our everchanging patron needs, and to focus our plan for the future.”
The Fort Collins Regional Library District is guided by a sevenmember Board of Trustees and supported by a citizenapproved 3mill property tax levy. The District continues to make strides toward fulfilling its commitment to all tax payers by listening to their needs and developing a longrange vision for improved and relevant public library services.
