Scout is an emerging technology company offering application and server monitoring solutions. Their app monitoring is better, but it's not as well known as the industry standard, New Relic. The fine folks at Scout are confident that users will prefer Scout over New Relic. The hard part is getting the attention of New Relic users and convincing them to give Scout a shot. Cost, inconvenience and uncertainty are big impediments to clients changing app and server monitoring software.
The solution was a new branding campaign including website design and trade show booth design. We studied the industry and found most other brand identities to be bland, boxy and blue. To stand out in the field and convey the excitement about Scout's superior solution, we created a brand identity with playful product illustrations, the happy hipster customer character and a big, bold claim:
“You'll like Scout more than New Relic. Or we'll give you a puppy.*”
