Taylor Vervaecke

Cool Stuff Collector

Taylor grew up a little on the feral side, running through the woods in small-town Iowa. She has always been drawn to the beauty in things, even if other people see “just a rock.” Curiosity and creativity drive her. From building forts with her brother using treasures scavenged from the local dump to constructing sculptures from found objects — her current favorite is a set of soldered and woven nests on a pedestal of backyard creek rocks — Taylor is always making something. She dreamt of being an engineer and an artist, found the common thread in architecture, and ultimately landed with a B.F.A. in graphic design from Colorado State University.

Specialty

Taylor has taken the leap into professional design work with Toolbox, adding fresh perspective and can-do enthusiasm to the A-Team. She’s already deployed her construction skills on a piece with a mind-bending fold structure, and she’s looking forward to many design challenges ahead. She’s a big-picture thinker, strong collaborator, and eager student of the craft. When she’s not at the Box, you’ll find Taylor exploring the Colorado trails, thrifting, reading, listening to music, playing cards, and (of course) creating art with her friends.

Passion Projects

Making found object sculptures, growing her printmaking practice, and filling every inch of wall space with art.

Fresh berries, stripes, crisp fall mornings, geese (the band and the animal), and the Midwest.

Corn, being late, and calling a can of pop a soda.
