Engineering
sustainable change

Brendle Group is an engineering and planning firm that helps their clients solve complex climate, energy and water problems while creating lasting impacts for sustainability. When they first approached Toolbox, they found themselves in a position similar to many of our clean tech clients: they had been quietly kicking ass in their industry but didn’t look as forward-thinking as they truly were. It was time to level up.

Toolbox dove in with an in-depth brand assessment, because you can’t get where you want to go until you know where you stand. It was during this process that Brendle Group gave us our new favorite nickname: engineer whisperers.

Building on a legacy

Brendle Group has a compelling origin story and a fundamentally different approach to engineering sustainable solutions. Founder and chief engineer Judy Dorsey named the company after her mother Eileen Brendle-Dorsey, a leading-edge architect who promoted green building techniques as early as the 1950s.

That spirit of innovation and challenging the status quo with smart, sustainable engineering is programmed into the DNA of the company — and was the foundation of our work building a brand as unique as their history and as bright as the future they’re helping build.

Brand engineering

Toolbox refined and clarified Brendle Group’s brand experience with a fresh logo and a tag line that says it all. While their engineers were hard at work deciphering the complexity of truly sustainable solutions, a fluid new look incorporated the goal of Brendle Group to operate collaboratively with other like-minded service providers in the field.

Brand visualization

Using graphics to visualize technology makes it significantly easier for audiences to internalize and analyze. Toolbox brought the Brendle Group’s brand and tech to life with a Technology Explainer Visualization that showcased their unique engineering solutions in context.

  • Featuring the people, communities and market segments served
  • Portraying the innovative technologies in play

Defining the vision

Visual storytelling requires a combination of analytical, creative and communication skills. Our first step was to work with Brendle Group to clearly define the business objectives for the visualization and the most important details to convey. Then we rolled up our sleeves and got to work creating an illustration that is:

  • Memorable: Establishing the brand story in a signature visual style.
  • Clear: Requiring little, if any, explanation.
  • Relevant: Accurately establishing what Brendle Group does and why.
  • Beautiful: Optimizing the user experience through composition, color, typography and interactivity.

Leading the way

Brendle Group’s brand visualization became the star of their new website. The interactive illustration, combined with well-crafted UI/UX and targeted, people-first positioning, resulted in a site that continues to engage users and makes it easy for them to access information based on industry segments and areas of expertise — all supported by case studies and testimonials.

Our brand illustration is the framework of our company’s whole visual style.
