Toolbox is a creative and marketing agency in Fort Collins, Colorado building a bridge between the truth of science and the magic of design. Our Brand Engineering process blends art, science and intuition — converting tech talk into brand love.
We’ve concentrated our efforts where our work has the biggest impact and our clients do the boldest work: Climate Tech, Emerging Tech and Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing).
What you’ll do
The Production Designer will design and iterate a wide range of print and digital assets and campaigns across a variety of media, including print (from datasheets to corporate brochures), websites, social posts, display ads and tradeshow assets.
Your skills aren’t static, and neither is your work. You are a visual experience design specialist who knows how to carry projects from initiation to completion.
Your work will meet defined strategies — which you can help shape. You’ll collaborate closely with our Strategy, Creative Director, Account Managers, UX and Copy to surprise and delight our clients on the regular.
Your mad skills
- Gobs of experience, a portfolio showcasing innovative design and creative problem-solving
- A proficient working knowledge of graphic design principles, both print and digital
- Unwavering attention to detail
- A strong command of typography, color, composition and user experience
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
- Experience and/or willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with an “all-hands-on-deck” small creative team and wear many hats
- Comfortable taking direction and criticism well and can work efficiently
- Must have experience managing your own schedule, demonstrating skills in time and project management
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills· You bring curiosity, positivity and passion by the bowlful
- Bonus points for digital animation, illustration and infographic skills
Break it down

Research and strategy (10%)
- Understand our clients’ positioning and marketing goals
- Participate in brainstorms and other idea-generating team sessions
- Partner with team members to ensure projects meet objectives
- Present work to internal teams
- Stay on top of new technology and promote agency and client adoption
Brand/print design (40%) + Digital design (30%)
- Comprehend and articulate the client’s needs, requirements and design goals
- Review and discuss client-provided materials and understand project parameters
- Encourage team Toolbox to continually push production design boundaries
- Create and maintain brand style guides, identity toolkits, UI toolkits and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure your working files are built correctly (smallest size, proper naming conventions, error-free) and prepare final print / post-ready files, ensure quality and accuracy of all electronic files released to vendors and clients
- Do work you’re proud of and do it accurately, ethically and on time
- Communicate execution / production obstacles and improvement opportunities
- Utilize Toolbox Creative’s file nomenclature protocols
Client and project management (15%)
- Follow Toolbox’s and our clients project management and workflow applications and processes
- Prioritize and schedule your project tasks to meet budgets and deadlines
- Provide necessary updates to Project Manager and Creative Director as needed, particularly as it relates to revision requests, scope of work and schedule changes
- Help define project goals, scope, pricing and timing for digital and print projects
Studio Responsibilities / Administration (5%)
- Contribute honest input during quarterly performance reviews, set your own performance goals
- Toolbox Talks: Share your unique perspectives, passions and skills with the team
- Enter all hours (billable and non-billable) accurately in Workamajig daily
- Participate in weekly staff and project meetings and production-led conversations
- Check and reply to all communication promptly
- Help develop and support Toolbox Creative’s overall culture, values, and purpose
- Participate in weekly staff and project meetings and production-led conversations
- Contribute to an environment that is efficient, professional, proactive and team-oriented
- As needed, develop thought-leadership ideas and content related to Toolbox Creative’s positioning and target market
Education and Training
2+ years of work experience in production graphic design preferred. Willing to train the right entry-level designer with some boots-on-the-ground experience. Candidates with a degree in graphic design preferred.
