Igniting the next generation of women in clean energy

Meeting our community’s energy needs sustainably is an all-hands-on-deck, technical challenge. Yet only 26% of U.S. technology jobs are held by women. The She’s in Power initiative helps close the gap with hands-on, project-based mentorship for women interested in clean energy.

When we heard rumblings about a program that was going to advance both women in technology AND clean energy, we were all in. Toolbox named the organization and built the brand from the ground up.

A brand designed to dismantle the patriarchy (no big deal)

Doing our part to close the clean energy gender gap meant building a brand and messaging to attract:

  • Student and professional women interested in creating a more sustainable world through a clean energy career
  • Industry experts ready to pay it forward as mentors
  • Companies willing to spearhead and shepherd clean energy projects
  • Corporate sponsors, foundations and other sources of funding

Outreach that’s not a stretch

She’s in Power audiences range from high school students to corporations. Hitting home across generations and types of organization required a multi-faceted approach with tailored messaging. We rolled up our sleeves and got to work: recruitment flyers with separate inserts for mentees and mentors, pitch decks and cases for support, in-depth web content, e-newsletters, social media graphics and best practices, and invitations to VIP events.

The proof is in the people

Every She’s in Power project has a measurable impact, whether it’s reducing GHG emissions, maximizing energy efficiency or advancing climate-smart technology. Once the data is in the books, what’s left? A woman with invaluable experience, ready to launch her clean energy career.

The stories of She’s in Power graduates are the most compelling proof points for recruitment and funding efforts. The program changed their professional lives, and now they’re out changing the world.

The ability to help women find positive role models in the clean energy sector truly is powerful. We are excited to help others find inspiration in the work that will define our futures.
